Gillian Bruce, Intern
Hi! I’m Gillian Bruce and I am a graduate-level counseling intern at Pennock Center for Counseling. I am currently completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Colorado Denver. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Neuroscience from The Pennsylvania State University and relocated to Colorado shortly after completing my undergraduate studies.
My training emphasizes multicultural considerations in counseling, trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and grief and loss. My clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, trauma and its impact on development and functioning, grief and loss, and LGBTQIA+ experiences and concerns. I have experience working with diverse client populations and values collaborating closely with clients to support them in reaching their counseling goals.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in humanistic and postmodern theories, including Person-Centered and Narrative Therapy. I work with clients to explore the personal and societal narratives that have shaped their self-perceptions, helping them reauthor those stories in ways that align with their values, strengths, and identities. I am committed to providing a supportive, affirming space where clients feel heard as they move toward greater mental and emotional wellness.
